Gorakhpur, Feb. 2 -- The identity of the woman whose body was found in bushes beneath a culvert in the PPganj area has been confirmed as 35-year-old Priya Shetty, a resident of Mumbai.
She was not killed by a stranger but was allegedly murdered by her lover Vijay, with the help of his wife, police disclosed on Monday after arresting the couple.
According to police, the murder took place on Thursday night. After killing Priya, the accused transported her body on a scooter and dumped it beneath a bridge near the Gobarhiya drain.
During interrogation, both accused confessed to the crime.
Investigations revealed that Vijay, a resident of Saphaiya Tola in Tighra village under the PPganj police station area, was already married.
