Bengaluru, Jan. 14 -- Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Wednesday demanded the immediate arrest of Congress leader Rajeev Gowda under the Goonda Act for allegedly abusing officials and issuing threats in connection with a banner row in Sidlaghatta.

Speaking to reporters here, Narayanaswamy said that at a time when the banner-related issue in Ballari has already created a major controversy in the state, a similar incident has surfaced in Sidlaghatta. He questioned whether permission had been obtained for putting up the banners and said the municipal commissioner had informed that no application was submitted, no fee was paid and no permission was granted.
