Tirupati, Aug. 30 -- Andhra Pradesh Minister for Water Resources Development Nimmala Ramanaidu has claimed that the longest canal in Asia was dug up in Andhra Pradesh to provide water to the drought-hit Rayalaseema region.
Addressing a programme organized as part of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu performing Harathi to the Krishna water flowing in the canal at Kuppam on Saturday, the WRD Minister revealed that 738 kilometers of canal was dug up under the 'Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi' (HNSS) project to provide the Krishna river water to various places in Rayalaseema region, including Kuppam.
