Solan, Feb. 1 -- More than 55 sheep and goats were killed in a lightning strike near Devthi on the Solan-Sapattu road early Sunday morning, triggering concern among shepherd communities and highlighting the risks faced by migratory pastoralists during adverse weather conditions.

Several animals were also injured in the incident, while three shepherds narrowly escaped, averting what could have been a major human tragedy.

According to information available, the incident occurred around 3:45 am when light rain had begun in the area.
