Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 30 -- Raising concern over the alarming health trends among children, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KeSCPCR) has underscored the urgent need for a child-centric strategy to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Lifestyle disorders, genetic predisposition and environmental factors were fuelling a sharp rise in NCDs among children, KeSCPCR Chairperson K V Manojkumar said.

"Type-1 diabetes, asthma, cardiac ailments, chronic respiratory diseases and even mental health issues like anxiety and depression are increasingly reported," he pointed out.
