Puducherry, Nov. 18 -- Puducherry Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi on Monday regretted that inspite of the Supreme Court ban, the Yanam region of the Union territory is full of statues in public land.

In a Whatsapp message, the Lt.Governor said Justice R M Lodha and Justice S J Mukhopadhaya delivering the verdict in 2013 banned the erection of statues in public place any more.

Ms Bedi said people have been complaining against the repeated constructions of statues and religious structures at public places.

Statues are allowed to be erected in private land only.

The Lt Governor said that District Collector has been asked to take a report form the Regional administrator and report back to her. UNI PAB CS 1244
