Mandi, Feb. 6 -- At a time when shepherds in Mandi district are already grappling with depleting grazing pasture land and harsh weather conditions, a leopard attack has pushed a local herder into severe financial distress.
In a shocking incident, a leopard killed 25 sheep in a single night in Nalaut village under Bhanwas Panchayat of the Balichowki area, causing losses running into several lakhs of rupees.
According to local accounts, the incident took place late Wednesday night when the leopard entered the sheep pen of Kaur Singh, a shepherd for whom livestock rearing is the sole means of livelihood.
