Kannur, Dec. 13 -- Ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) continued their dominance in Kannur district, the native place of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan, in the local body election.
The LDF marked a clean sweep (non-- opposition) in Anthoor Municipality and seven grama panchayats -- Pinarayi, Pannyanoor, Kankol-Alapadamba, Kallyassery, Kannapuram, Kathirur, Karivellur-Peralam.
However, the number of non-opposition panchayats was diminished to 7 from 11 in the last election held in 2020 in Kannur district.
Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) retained the Kannur Municipal Corporation with a comfortable majority (UDF 36, LDF 15, NDA 4, SDPI 1) and won three municipalities--- Taliparamb...
