Los Angeles, Feb. 6 -- Laurence Fishburne is the latest star to join Scarlett Johansson and Mike Flanagan in a new chapter set within 'The Exorcist universe', Variety confirms.
The Oscar nominee and Emmy and Tony Award winner joins a previously announced ensemble that includes Johansson, Jacobi Jupe (Hamnet), Diane Lane, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Fishburne's role remains under wraps, according to Variety.
As previously reported by Variety, the film will tell an entirely new story and will not serve as a sequel to 2023's 'The Exorcist: Believer'.
The project is set to shoot in New York City and will receive a wide theatrical release from Universal Pictures in March 2027.
