Kolkata, Nov. 25 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had to cancel her planned helicopter journey to Bongaon after a last-minute revelation that the aircraft's license had expired on Tuesday.

The helicopter, which she had not used for nearly six months, had completed a routine trial run on Monday as per protocol. But officials did not disclose that the license validity had already lapsed.

The problem was revealed only hours before her scheduled departure when the aviation company informed the state government that the helicopter could not operate.
