Chennai, Feb. 15 -- Lakhs of devotees from across the country thronged various temples of Lord Shiva andoffered special prayers on the occasion of the auspicious Mahashivarathri.
Almost all the Shiva temples were teeming devotees and waited in queues for several hours to offer darshan onthe occasion.
Tens and thousands of pilgrims thronged the ancient Sri Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram and haddarshan. After taking a holy dip at the sea and at the "Agni Theertham' (holy waters), men and women alongwith their children offered special prayers.
