Chandigarh, Jan. 22 -- A young woman married to a serving Navy officer was found dead at her in-laws' residence in Sarsa village of Kurukshetra district, barely months after her wedding.
The woman's family has accused her husband and his relatives of subjecting her to dowry-related harassment, leading to her death.
The deceased, identified as 25-year-old Simran Verma, hailed from Bhagal village in Kaithal district. She was married on March 21, 2025, to Nitin Verma, who is currently posted with the Indian Navy. According to her family, the marriage had taken place less than a year ago.
