Los Angeles, Aug. 27 -- Kristen Stewart's maiden venture behind the camera, "The Chronology of Water", has been acquired for North American distribution by The Forge and is poised for an award-qualifying theatrical release this December, followed by a broader rollout in early January.

Adopted from Lidia Yuknavitch's searing memoir, the film charts the struggles of a once-promising Olympic swimmer, who, after losing her scholarship, spirals into addiction while simultaneously exploring her sexuality and nurturing a profound literary awakening.

Premiering earlier this year in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, the drama earned plaudits for Stewart's distinctive cinematic voice. Stewart, The Hollywood Reporter's review reads, "appears ...
