Kolkata, Aug. 10 -- Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma today promised a thorough probe into the allegation that the mother of the RG Kar rape victim was injured in a police assault during the BJP's march to Nabanna (West Bengal state secretariat) protest.
"We will examine the entire incident. If it is found that anyone physically assaulted her, the perpetrators will be identified. We will ascertain whether the allegation is true or false," Verma told reporters after visiting police personnel injured in the protest.
He said the matter would be investigated even without a formal complaint, adding that a probe had already begun.
