Kolkata, March 17 -- A day after taking charge, Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Nand on Tuesday asserted that the city police are fully capable of handling situations like the recent incident outside state minister Shashi Panja's residence in Girish Park.
Addressing a press conference, Nand dismissed allegations that central forces were not requisitioned in time during the incident. He clarified that central forces were not stationed nearby at that moment and that the situation unfolded within a very short span of time.
"Kolkata Police is competent enough to manage such situations. It is not that we are incapable of handling them," he said.
