Aizawl, Oct. 13 -- Truckers in Mizoram's Kolasib district have threatened to launch an agitation from October 20 if the state government fails to carry out urgent repairs on two major highways linking the state with Assam.
The Mizoram Tipper Association (MTA) and the Kolasib District Drivers' & Owners' Joint Action Committee submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, highlighting the deteriorating conditions of the Aizawl-Silchar highway near Sairang and the Kolasib-Bairabi highway.
Truckers said both routes, crucial for the movement of goods and essentials into Mizoram, have become dangerously slippery following heavy rains last week, causing vehicles to overturn or get stranded.
