Thiruvananthpuram, Feb. 23 -- In a significant contribution to the global Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) community, Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has integrated Tamil and Kannada language content into 'GCompris', the world's most renowned educational entertainment Free Software.

The latest version of GCompris now officially features the localised content developed by KITE, which was originally designed for the 'Kalipetti' ( Play Box) ICT textbooks used by students in Classes 1 to 4 under the Kerala State syllabus.

While Indian language repositories for GCompris were previously largely limited to Sanskrit and Malayalam, this initiative marks a major expansion into other regional languages.
