Imphal, April 23 -- The historic Khongjom Day was solemnly observed on Thursday at the Khongjom War Memorial, Thoubal district paying rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for Manipur during the Anglo-Manipur War, 1891.
The observance was graced by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla as Chief Guest and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh as President.
Both leaders led the dignitaries in ceremonial floral wreath laying at the memorial, followed by Guard of Honour, General Salute, Reverse Arms, sounding of the Last Post, two minutes' silence, Slope Arms and Order Arms.
Floral tributes were also offered at the statue of Paona Brajabashi, accompanied by a Gun Salute in his honour. Tarpan was performed at the Khongjom River, while S...
