Imphal, Feb. 5 -- Chief Minister and Leader of the House, Y. Khemchand Singh won a Motion of Confidence moved in the Assembly on Thursday. In the 60 member House, 51 MLAs supported the government while eight MLAs opposed. One seat is vacant in the State Assembly.
Leader of the Opposition, Okram Ibobi and other Congress members, K Ranjit, Kh Meghachandra, Th. Lokeshore and Surjakumar Okram spoke during the motion. O Ibobi Singh today said the Motion of Confidence should have been taken up before the Governor's Address.
A government should prove its majority on the floor of the House before proceeding with the Governor's Address and other business, Ibobi said.
