Chandigarh, Jan. 13 -- Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Tuesday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government's decision to lease the Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology at Lehra Gaga to a private society, alleging it reflects a lack of commitment to strengthening Punjab's public healthcare infrastructure.
Raising the issue in a public statement, Khaira said the campus, developed with state funds, could have been utilised to establish a government-run medical college. He argued that transferring such a prominent public institution to a private entity at what he described as concessional lease terms raises concerns over intent, transparency, and priorities of the Bhagwant Mann-led government.
