Lucknow, Dec. 23 -- : A doctor accused of demanding his friend to convert to Islam for marriage has been suspended by Lucknow's King George's Medical University (KGMU) on Tuesday.

"Convert to Islam if you want to marry me," was the demand made by the doctor to his female counterpart, says a complaint by the female colleague.

The accused doctor was also barred from entering the university campus. Additionally, an FIR was also filed against him.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had called the female doctor late on Monday evening and enquired about the incident.

The female doctor has reported to have told the CM that the accused, Dr. Ramizuddin Nayak, was forming a gang at KGMU and carrying out religious conversions.
