Lucknow/Pilibhit, Jan. 30 -- A sexual exploitation and forced religious conversion case involving a King George's Medical University (KGMU) student has resurfaced as police step up action across Lucknow and Pilibhit, sources said on Friday.
The arrest of a long-absconding key figure has given a fresh direction to the probe.
On Thursday, Lucknow Police arrested Sarik Khan from Pilibhit. Khan is the same individual who had acted as a witness during the nikah of the accused Dr Ramizuddin Naik Aka Ramiz Malik.
He had been evading arrest despite a non-bailable warrant issued against him. With the help of the Pilibhit Police, a raid was conducted in the Punjabiyan Mohalla area, leading to his arrest.
