Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 19 -- Kerala is witnessing a worrying surge in pedestrian fatalities, with 851 deaths reported up to October 31 this year, including 218 at zebra crossings. The state police conducted a three-day special enforcement initiative from November 14, "White Line Lifeline," targeting traffic violations that endanger vulnerable road users and aiming to make streets safer for all.
During the drive, 1,232 traffic violations were detected, resulting in fines totaling Rs 2,57,760. A total of 32,116 vehicles were inspected, and 182 cases were referred to the courts for further action.
