Thrissur, Jan. 25 -- An eight-day International Theatre extravaganza, with the theme "Voices in this Silence", was opened in this cultural capital city today with hundreds of play enthusiasts folking to the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy premises here.

The 16th edition of International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFOK) will feature 23 plays, including nine foreign plays. The Festival will also showcase 14 Indian plays, including five from Malayalam. There will be a total of 48 performances during the festival which will conclude on February one.

Altogether 245 theatre persons, including 49 from abroad will be attending the festival.
