Alappuzha, July 1 -- The CPI(M)-led Left Government which came into power in 2016 in Kerala has constructed and handed over 12,000 houses and 6,300 flats to fishermen under the rehabilitation scheme.

Announcing that keys of newly constructed 400 flats will soon be handed over by the Chief Minister, Fisheries Minister Saji Cheriyan said the Left Government has completed the construction of a sea wall at Chellanam at a cost of Rs 344 crore to protect against sea erosion.

The government is continuously working to protect Kerala's coastal areas by building sea walls wherever necessary, he added.
