Kochi, March 24 -- In a landmark advancement in respiratory care, Amrita Hospital has successfully carried out Kerala's first biodegradable airway stenting procedure.
With this achievement, the hospital becomes the first center in the state and the third in India to adopt this cutting-edge treatment for post-tuberculosis bronchial stenosis, a condition involving airway blockage following TB.
The breakthrough procedure was led by the hospital's Division of Interventional Pulmonology and Complex Airway Disorders.
The highly complex bronchoscopic intervention, which lasted nearly eight hours, was performed on two young women suffering from severe airway obstruction. The treatment successfully restored their normal breathing.
