Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Jan. 28 -- The Pathanamthitta sessions court on Wednesday granted bail to expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in the third rape case registered against him.
The court allowed the bail plea after reserving its order earlier, following objections raised by the prosecution over the genuineness of certain digital evidence and issues highlighted during the hearing.
Mamkootathil had been in judicial custody for over two weeks in connection with the case. During the hearing, the defence contended that the relationship between the accused and the complainant was consensual, a submission that was taken into consideration by the court while granting bail.
