Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 17 -- In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening welfare measures for India's defence pensioners, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar inaugurated the SPARSH Outreach Programme at the Cariappa Auditorium, Pangode Military Station, here today.
The event, organized under the aegis of the Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA), Chennai, witnessed the disbursement of pension arrears amounting to Rs 40 lakh to five defence pensioners and beneficiaries.
The ceremony was attended by Raj Kumar Arora, IDAS, Controller General of Defence Accounts, T. Jayaseelan, IDAS, Controller of Defence Accounts, Chennai, and Col Maheswar Singh Jamwal, Officiating Station Commander, Trivandrum.
