Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 28 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticised the Election Commission of India's (ECI) decision to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in states including Kerala, terming it an "affront to the democratic process."In a sharply worded statement, the Chief Minister said the Commission's plan to carry out the revision based on voter lists from 2002-2004 instead of the existing updated rolls violates the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, which mandate that revisions must be based on the current list.
