Thiruvananthapuram, June 7 -- The Kerala Government has given administrative sanction for establishing an Institute of Organ and Tissue Transplant in Kozhikode at a cost of Rs 643.88 crore.
The approval was based on a detailed project document submitted by the implementing agency, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said on Saturday.
The Transplant Institute aims to bring all activities related to the organ donation sector under one umbrella. It will be a special institution comprising of trained doctors, scientists and health workers.
There will be 14 specialty departments in the first phase and seven specialty departments in the second phase. It also aims to start 31 academic courses.
