Thiruvananthapurm, April 5 -- AICC General Secretary and Public Accounts Committee Chairperson K.C. Venugopal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising serious concerns over the handling of the proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), questioning both the procedure adopted in Parliament and the intent behind the legislation.
In his letter, Venugopal expressed "anguish and disappointment" over the Prime Minister's recent remarks in Kerala, where the UDF was accused of spreading misinformation about the FCRA for political gain.
He termed the statement "deeply problematic and humiliating," adding that making such a remark on a "sacred day" was unfortunate.
