Kashmiri pop singer Qazi Touqeer laments cancellation of 'Tachar Show', seeks support for Kashmiri artists

Srinagar, Sept. 18 -- Kashmiri pop singer and Indian Idol winner Qazi Touqeer today said his much-publicised "Tachar Show" was cancelled due to the non-clearance by the local authoritiesThe concert was initially scheduled for September 14 at the University of Kashmir campus and it was later rescheduled for September 17 and shifted to the university auditorium.

Addressing the media, Qazi said his dream had always been to perform in front of common Kashmiri audiences rather than events dominated by VIPs and officials. "Whenever I have performed here, it has mostly been for VIPs and VVIPs. My dream was to perform before the masses - auto drivers, doctors, engineers, families. That has never happened in Kashmir," he said.
