Srinagar, Jan. 2 -- : Kashmir's popular hill resorts froze following recent light snowfall, with ski resort of Gulmarg emerging as the coldest place in the Valley, officials said on Friday.

According to the Meteorological Department, Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 7.0degC, while Pahalgam plunged to minus 6.2degC.

The previous night, Gulmarg had registered minus 5.5degC, whereas Pahalgam was relatively warmer at 0.4degC, indicating a sharp overnight drop, especially in south Kashmir.

Light snowfall and rain were reported at several higher reaches of Kashmir over the last few days.
