Udupi, April 2 -- An absconding accused in a long-pending criminal case was arrested by Udupi Town police after 16 years, in a significant breakthrough for law enforcement in the coastal district.
The accused, identified as Raju Mogera, a resident of Belake near Bhatkal, had been on the run since his alleged involvement in a case registered over a decade and a half ago.
According to police, despite multiple attempts over the years, the accused had managed to evade arrest. However, renewed efforts by the police led to a breakthrough after his movements were tracked to Bhatkal. Acting on specific information, a police team carried out an operation and apprehended him.
