Bengaluru, April 2 -- In a disturbing case that underscores the deadly consequences of campus gossip, a 22-year-old medical student in Karnataka's Chitradurga district allegedly committed suicide after being subjected to sustained humiliation over rumours about her personal life.
The student, a final-year BAMS candidate at Raghavendra Ayurveda Medical College, was found hanging in her bedroom at her residence in Malladihalli on Wednesday morning. What began as whispers about her alleged relationship with a lecturer, her family claims, soon spiralled into relentless ridicule and social ostracisation within the college.
