Bengaluru, Jan. 13 -- The Karnataka government has begun verification of Aadhaar cards and other identity documents held by Bangladeshi nationals residing in the state, Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Tuesday, asserting that strict action would be taken wherever violations are detected.

Speaking to media, Parameshwara said senior police officers have already been directed to compile detailed data on the presence of Bangladeshi nationals in the state. He said the exercise aims to identify those who entered the country illegally and later obtained local identity documents to stay in the state.
