Hubballi, Sept. 17 -- Ananya Hiremath, a final-year student of Government First Grade College, Gudageri, brought laurels to Karnataka by winning a gold medal at the 6th National Yoga Championship held in Chhattisgarh.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Yogasana Bharat programme. Ananya claimed first place in the traditional yoga category for seniors.
A native of Haralapur village in Kundgol taluk, Ananya began practising yoga and Mallakhamb at the age of five. She later trained at Alva's Educational Institution and Government High School, Haralapur, securing 96% in her SSLC exams. She is currently pursuing a BA degree at Government First Grade College, Gudageri.
