Bengaluru, Jan. 15 -- The Karnataka Congress on Thursday issued a showcause notice to leader Rajeev Gowda after an audio clip of him allegedly abusing Shidlaghatta City Municipal Council Commissioner Amrutha Gowda, went viral, sparking widespread outrage across the state.

The clip reportedly contains expletives and threats, including remarks about setting fire to the municipal office. Its circulation on social media intensified calls for immediate accountability.

Police registered a case against Rajeev following the officer's complaint. He had lost his maiden assembly election in 2023 from the Shidlaghatta constituency in Chikkaballapur district.
