Hubballi, Jan. 25 -- Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa today accused the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of deliberately pushing the state towards becoming a "state of alcoholics" by promoting liquor sales even through grocery shops and official programmes, while completely neglecting development.

Addressing media persons here, Vijayendra alleged that the state government is exerting pressure to expand liquor sales as it struggles to raise revenue. "Liquor is being sold even in grocery shops. This is happening due to government pressure. The Congress government is trying to turn Karnataka into a state of drunkards, and this is the misfortune of the state," he said.
