Belagavi, Jan. 25 -- Karnataka Police on Sunday joined their counterparts from Goa and Maharashtra in the investigation into the alleged theft of two container trucks carrying high-value currency, estimated between Rs 400 crore and Rs 1,000 crore, near Chorla Ghat on the Karnataka-Goa border.
Police said a team from Belagavi district has been deputed to assist the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Maharashtra government to probe the case, popularly referred to as the 'money heist'. The SIT is headed by Superintendent of Police Aditya Mirkhelkar.
The development follows the registration of a case at a Nashik police station based on a complaint filed by a Maharashtra-based businessman, Sandip Datta Patil.
