New Delhi, March 21 -- Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje on Friday written a letter to Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, urging him to withhold consent to the proposed amendment to the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements Act.

The amendment seeks to grant a 4% reservation in government tenders and contracts to Muslims under Category 2B, which Karandlaje believes to be unconstitutional and discriminatory.

In her letter, she expressed grave concern over the bill, stating that it violates the principles of equality, non-discrimination, and equal opportunity as enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
