Kanpur, Jan. 8 -- In connection with the gangrape of a minor girl in Kanpur, the police administration has taken disciplinary action against senior officers for alleged lapses in handling the case by removing the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) from his post, while the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sachendi police station was suspended on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the incident took place on Monday night when the minor girl was allegedly abducted in a vehicle and sexually assaulted by two men, including a police personnel. The accused reportedly abandoned the victim near her residence after her condition deteriorated.
