Kannur, Jan. 22 -- Taliparamba Additional District Sessions Court on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to a 27-year-old woman for murdering her 18-month-old son by smashing his head against a seawall at Thayyil beach in 2020.
Judge KN Prasanth also imposed a fine amount of Rs 1 lakh on the convicted Saranya (27) residing in Koduvally house at Thayyil and ordered that the fine amount be provided to the father of the child, Pranav of Varam.
It was on January 19, the court found Saranya guilty under section-302(murder) of IPC and acquitted the second accused, Nidhin of Valiyanoor, her boyfriend, due to lack of evidence. The trial began on January 20, 2025.
