Ranchi, Feb. 3 -- Panic prevailed at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here on Tuesday after a juvenile inmate escaped from the hospital during medical treatment, raising serious questions over security arrangements.
Following the incident, both the hospital administration and the police swung into action. The police have launched an investigation and intensified efforts to trace the runaway juvenile.
According to police sources, the juvenile was lodged at the Dumardaga Observation Home in connection with a theft case. He had been admitted to the Trauma Centre of RIMS two days ago after complaining of severe abdominal pain. Security personnel were deployed to guard him during treatment.
