Thiruvananthapuram, May 9 -- Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K. Mani has alleged that cross-voting by workers of the CPI(M) played a major role in the defeat of Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidates in several constituencies during the recently concluded Kerala Assembly elections.

Speaking in the backdrop of the LDF's disappointing performance in a number of seats, Jose K. Mani said that despite the alliance machinery functioning effectively in many constituencies, the expected votes did not fully materialize for several candidates.

This, he indicated, has led to strong suspicions of internal sabotage and organized cross-voting within sections of the CPI(M).
