Ranchi, Dec. 20 -- A father from West Singhbhum district was compelled to carry his son's body in a bag after failing to get an ambulance from Chaibasa Sadar Hospital.

The matter has now drawn the attention of State Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari, who has ordered a detailed inquiry and initiated action against those responsible.

According to reports, Dimba Chatomba, a resident of Baljodi village, had to bring his son's body back to his village in a bag after no ambulance was provided at Chaibasa Sadar Hospital. The incident sparked outrage.

The Health Minister said that strict action proceedings have been initiated against the concerned authorities and that a detailed, factual report has been sought from the Civil Surgeon.
