Ranchi, Jan. 31 -- Ahead of the presentation of the union Budget in Parliament on February 1, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress General Secretary Rakesh Sinha expressed hope that the Centre would extend special financial support to Jharkhand, a backward and relatively new state which has recently completed 25 years. He said the state should be provided with its pending dues amounting to Rs 1.36 lakh crore to accelerate its development journey.

Sinha demanded that, on the lines of Bihar, the Centre should allocate Rs10,000 crore for the Maiya Samman Yojana, enabling the state government to increase assistance from Rs 2,500 to Rs 0,000. This would help empower tribal, dalit and rural women economically.
