Jaunpur, Feb. 3 -- Jaunpur police have achieved a major breakthrough in a case related to the illegal trade of codeine-based cough syrup, with the first arrest made in the district on Tuesday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shashank Maurya, proprietor of a firm named New Milan Super Pharma.
According to the police, two cases had already been registered at Jaunpur Kotwali police station in connection with the matter. Based on facts that emerged during the investigation, further action has been expedited. The police are also preparing to initiate the process of seizure of assets linked to the case.
