Beed, Sept. 21 -- Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil has clarified that the ongoing agitation has no political patronage or interference.
"For the last two years, we have maintained peace and patience in our movement. We are not doing politics. We only want a lasting reservation for the Maratha community," Patil said.
Tensions have been rising in Maharashtra over the state government's move to grant Marathas Kunbi caste certificates under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category using the Hyderabad Gazetteer. Several OBC leaders are preparing legal and street-level protests against this move. Recently, OBC leader Prof. Laxman Hake alleged that NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar and his MLAs are behind Jarange Patil's agitation.
