New Delhi, Aug. 16 -- The festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervor across the national capital today as devotees thronged temples decorated with flowers and lights.
Since morning, the atmosphere at the temples in the city was full of enthusiasm with people visiting the places of worship where Lord Krishna hymns set the tone for the Janmashtami celebrations.
Many observed fast on the occasion, while devotees decorated their puja rooms with flowers and offered sweets to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.
One of the most noteworthy parts of the festival is the 'Janmashtami' tableaux, also referred to as the popular 'Jhankis,' cherished by people of all age groups, especially children.
